The focus of THE ART
INSTITUTE OF WESTON’s art program is to provide education and
training in traditions, principles, and skills of drawing and
painting as a foundation for one's future development as a fine
artist. The emphasis of the program is figurative and realistic,
reflecting the same traditions that have produced master artists
from the Renaissance to the present time. Based on the traditional
methods of Conchita Firgau of painting realistically, we provide a
foundation to enable each individual to find their own style in
their own contexts with confidence.
Our
Regular Program
is divided
into three parts:
● FIRST: Through sequential
assignments, the study of drawings forms an essential base for the
process of painting. The traditional subject matter of drawing
still-life, landscape and the figure is explored, with the focus on
the use of line, atmospheric perspective, value, construction and
proportion. Using paper and charcoal is where the student will learn
to really see like an artist. The student will also learn to use
various techniques used by the European masters.
●
SECOND: The
student will learn to use color and begin to develop a sense for
color while investigating the light, shade, composition, value and
texture through the use of pastels.
● THIRD: The
student is introduced to the medium of their choice like oil,
acrylic, or pastel. Using their acquired knowledge, the student will
begin to compose new concepts for painting and advance at their own
pace. Always with the master artist at their side, guiding the
student from beginning to end with direct demonstration.
We have
Special Programs
